Things To Check After 3 Months of Sitting...

Was on vacation for the summer... My car was parked for 3 months.. What should i check besides the fluids??? First time a friend tried to start it, it wouldnt start... Second occasion it started right up but a yellow fluid was comming out of the exhaust... Any ideas what that could of been? I was thinking it could of been like water from rain or something mixed with some rust... but the exhaust is pointed down so i dont know... My battery was starting to go so i think i might have to replace it but im goin to try jumpin it if it doesnt turn over... The last time it started was about a month ago (good friends are so hard to find these days)

the exhaust fluid is most likely just water mixed with rust. id just check the fluids and that should be fine.

Should be OK. The battery looses a certain percentage of charge when sitting idle.

So I am just wondering what would you guys suggest if you are leaving a car for lets say 3 weeks or so? Should I disconnect a battery cable(negative)? Any other suggestions?

3rd Generation

I'd disconnect the battery altogether, although just the negative cable should be fine.

Personally, I wouldn't do anything for a car sitting idle for only 3 weeks; especially this time of the year. A strong and fully charged battery should be able to hold a charge substantial enough to start the car. IMHO.
