4th Generation 1997 I4 Application Questions (The Free) Mod Series by Toysrme 02 help!!!

Hello All,

I wanted to test and then install a LCD VOLT meter to monitor the front and rear oxygen sensors.

But First I need to test the 2 sensors.

I tried to follow the instructions in TOYSRME's thread but with no luck. I would like to do the testing with my multi meter either inside the car or by the front O2 sensors is fine with me. I followed these instructions form somewhere on the board:

You could get the code from a scan tool. But if you want to confirm
which one it is, do this: At the diagnostic connector, connect the E1
and TE1. Now take a voltmeter(analog) and hook up the + lead to VF1 and

- lead to E1. This will tell you what the PCM is doing based on the
sensors input. Rev the engine to about 2500 rpm and hold there. You
want
to see the guage jump up and down between 0 and 5 volts. If its stuck
at
0 or 5 volts, connect the + lead to OX1 and - lead to E1. Quickly open
the throttle all the way, and the voltage should jump up one time or
more. If it dosent and the first test showed a steady voltage of 0 or
5,
AND you have no vaccum leaks misfires whatever, or anything else that
could be a factor..... that corresponding O2 sensor is no good.

To test the opposite bank, connect the + lead to VF2 in the first test
and OX2 in the second test respectively.

I just did this on my Lexus yesterday to confirm my rear bank O2 sensor
is on its way out.

Question(s):

1. I see the E1 and TE1 connectors (bridged em) on the Diag plug but no VF1 pin!? Where do I find that VF1 pin or is it labeled something different on my plug?

2. What is the procedure to check the o2 sensor with the hood up? (Where does the + and - of the voltmeter go? on the actual o2 sensor?

3. I don't have the fuse box cover for the inside of my 1997 where can I find the fuse diagram for the I4 1997 Camry?

Thanks guys!

Did you check the resistance between the pins going to the heater of your O2 sensor? That's what I did when I found the sensor is dead.

Cool

97 i4 is obd-II, but some of the subsystems retained the OBD-I terminals. you can't do it at way :\
just check it the normal way with a multimeter. this is for old cars hehe.
