V6 transmission interchangeability Q - Toyota Nation Forum : Toyota Car and Truck Forums

I did some searching, but can't find what I'm after...

I am looking at swapping a camry V6 into a TE72 corolla (no flames, please, it's only an idea right now). I am wondering ifany RWD transmission is a direct bolt-on to, say, a '92 3VZ-FE out of a Camry. Any input or ideas would be appreciated.

ya, anything that will bolt to a truck v6.
all toyota v6's share the same bellhousing & bolt patterns. at most, one bolt misaligns.

I'm kind of a noob when it comes to this stuff but I'm curious, would I be able to put a v6 truck RWD transmission in my 1992 Camry and have a RWD Camry? i mean would it just bolt right up or would that not even work?

youd have to remove the rear subframe in the front of the car & move the firewall, move the exhaust, and fabricate a 100% new rear suspension.

▲▲▲ Plus, having all that extra weight of a RWD transmission, driveshaft(s), and rear axles/suspension would make your car slower.

Thanks for the input, Toysrme; that means transmissions are relatively cheap then for this project! I have yet to look into ECM / wiring requirements, as I'm not certain what I need to make it run with an R150. My object is to do it once the right way, then down the road I can look into 5vz's, etc. if this works well.

After some investigation and the angle that the V6 sits at (going from front- to rear-wheel drive), I've decided to look into another engine, probably the 4.0 V8.
