So I get a call today from the shop installing my head, that 'warranty's their labor'
they broke one of my cams because they ignored the head stud installing proceedure and used the wrong studs under the cam gears and are now claiming not to cover it.
I'm having my father call to see if he he can get any further.
As it stands now, the head has JDM TRD Altezza (shimless) buckets installed in it which are tolerance-matched to the specific cams in there, which are custom ground cams totalling $800 in parts.
Even if I order a replacement cam, the tolerances of the machine grinding it have to be nearly exact for it to work without having to order new buckets.
Well, good news (sort of). I just got off the phone with both ChrisK and Ken at Oregeoncamshaft. Apparently the machines will machine to within 1/1000" which is within tolerance for the head without requiring new buckets. The cost for one cam ground is $90, so it's not as terrible as I initially thought. I'm going to attempt a legal dispute with the shop to have them pay for the cams, possibly the warranty of the motor which has sat there inactive for 2 months as they dilly-dally around as well as the towing costs to another shop to do the work.
screw that they're supposed to be profesionals. if you wanted it done with no warranty you would have taken it to a street mechanic at least he's cheaper that's bull SUE 'EM
Wow, they're at fault and they lay this shit on you?
-"Sorry, we broke one of your cams because we didn't know what the fuck we were doing, but it wasn't our fault."
Put pressure on them to make them pay for that shit!!
