So the other day I changed my rear rotors and brake pads BUT couldn't slide the caliper off of the bracket so I just took of the bracket then put in new rotors and pads. Drove it around for about 5 minutes, took it home, smell something burning and saw smoke coming from the rear passenger side. I was like WTF, because this never happened before (I've done brake work on other cars).
Now I'm thinking its the caliper since the wheel can't even be moved. I took the 12mm bolt off the lower part, swing the caliper upwards and tried to slide it out. Still doesn't bulge. Any tips?
if you can rotate the caliper up away from the pads, then the caliper's not stuck. Take the wheel off (sounds like it is already), and disassemble the brakes from around the rotor. If it all comes off, try to remove the rotor. if it won't come off, then yes, your e-brake is stuck. There should be a port to adjust the drum shoes where you can back off the adjuster.
There is a very good possibility that something is damaged inside the park brake.
However, if the rotor slides off like normal and the HUB doesn't turn, then your bearing just turned itself into a paperweight.

I think it's because your slider is stuck and you just slid a new pad in which is thicker than before and is now always touching the disc even though you're not braking
I had that problem before, so I just kept my old (thinner) pad on there and then put in my new pads when I got a new bracket with a working slider pin

I'm sure its not the bearing because I can take off everything off and the hub spins. Everything is fine until I put everything back (rotor, pads, brackets, and caliper).
Yeah, I now think its one of the following; brake hose, caliper, or parking brake components.
Hey Eye8Pussies, what did you mean by slider? Is that the upper part where the caliper is connected to the bracket? I've tried for about 30 minutes trying to 'slide' the caliper from the bracket with no luck, so even if I get a new bracket, I can't take the caliper off. BTW my wheel still doesn't rotate even with the old pads in with the new rotor after I press and release the brakes. Maybe the brake hose is damaged so the fluid isn't being sucked back right.
Going to do more testing on it, guess I might just drive it to the shop if I can't figure whats wrong.
