loud squeaks when i turn the wheel all the way to one side

hey guys i recently change my timing belt & the other two belts (drive belt, alternater) along with the water pump and seals and lately i noticed that i hear squeaks/screeches in the front when i turn the wheel all the way to one side

does this noise have anything to do with the new belts or maybe the joints/bushing needs replacement or lubrication

any help would be great
thanks

mine does that too. I think they said it was the PVC joints or something ( can't remember exactly) As far as I know it shouldn't be a problem as long as you don't turn it all the way to either side. I hear it wears down that PVC joint and you'll have to replace it. I hear that squeak on a lot of cars though when you turn the wheel all the way to one side or the other.

Hopefully someone else can reply and give you a better response then me.

Hey my friend told me that I should flush and change the power steering fluid

I was wondering if the fluid could be a problem...I don't ever remember changing it and its does look a big dirty but it looked the same as always but the squeaks happened recently

Experienced this too before - try asking your mechanic to grease the steering coupling joint - mine was squeaking even when i started to move the car from stationary - after the regreasing the sound went away - but its a matter of time before the part has to be replaced

......unless its the driveshaft

All pumps will make a squeaking or whining noise when turned all the way to the stop, but if you are talking about a loud 'screeching' noise, then it sounds to me like a loose belt.

I think you all are meaning the CV Joints, CV standing for Constant Velocity, otherwise known as halfshafts, cv axles or sometimes driveshafts.

Looking at the original post, did the noise exist before changing the belts? If not, check the tension on the power steering pump belt.

What, you didn't go to the PVC Joints class that Toyota has every quarter? PCV joints are integral to a vehicle's operation, surprised you didn't know that...

Are those the same joints where top-notch Toyo mechanics show everyone how to check their blinker fluid?

I had the same thing happen to my car when I installed my underdrive pulley, check your power steering belt to make sure it is at the right tension.

The tension on the power steering belt is too loose. Retighten it. New belts, especially aftermarket belts, have a tendancy to stretch out after a few hundred miles of use. I have also had this happen with Toyota OEM replacement belts on 2 different Camrys. Just retighten the power steering belt.

As a side note, the power steering pump will make a hissing noise when turned all the way to either side, not a screech.

It should be fine, I drove around with my belt loose like that for about a month before I got around to fixing it.
