best battery for the price

so i need a new battery.. anyways ive gone thru several different batteries in the last few years and im lookin for a new one

well i know optima ranks fairly high on everyones list by word of mouth but i have noticed quite a few problems with them

my bluetop failed miserably and so did a yellow top came DOA i replaced it and sold it eventually because of those problems

just seeing what everyones suggestion is... i have 5 tvs 2 subs and a few other electrical items so those need to be taken into consideration

I've always used Sears Die Hard Gold Batteries and have had good luck with them. The one on my Maxima has been in there for 9.5 years now.

Considering all the equipment, you might want to relook at your electrical system (like adding a second battery).

Duralast Gold - Yellow colored top.

Good price, great warranty with tow service and stuff like that, and so far no problems for me. its got like reserve power high cca and ca...
i was too cheap to get an optima and my system totally didnt need one.
maybe your bateries have gone bad because your alternator for your i4 isnt strong enough or is kind of on its way out, so it puts way to much strain on your battery.
get a capcitor?

I agree Duralast Gold Free replacement for 3 years, and 50$ towards any roadside assistance you need for the 3 years, and I agree you need both a capacitor and a new alternator

3rd Generation

I think a lot of it comes down to brand preference, guys. Johnson Controls makes most of the batteries sold in the US, and that includes DieHard (sears), Duralast (autozone), Optima, AutoCraft (advance), as well as the replacement batteries you'd buy at Honda, Mitsubishi, Mazda, Ford and (gasp!) Toyota Dealerships.

Don't believe me? Here's the proof:

http://www2.johnsoncontrols.com/bg/products_brands.htm

Scroll to the bottom to the link that says "Where can I find a Johnson Controls battery?", then click on the link that says "Leading Brands"

Or if you're lazy, here's the link: http://www.autobatteries.com/brands/index.asp

Hope that helps

They do make all those batteries, but they are made to different specs depending on the requirements of who will sell it.

Duralast and Die Hard both have silver and gold series. They have different warranties, different prices, and possibly different specifications. Additionally, the southern and northern regions of the US will have different battery specs because of the weather in those regions. Batteries sold in the north need to survive sub-freezing temperatures while those sold in the south need to survive much warmer weather.

I never said that they didn't use different specs, I just said they all were produced by the same mfg. I'd like to see those specs to see just how different they are, though.

The reason I say that is about five years ago I was a QA (Quality Assurance) Supervisor for a Tier-3 Automotive Supplier. We made parts for Ford, GM, Chrysler, Honda, and Mercedes Benz. Usually, it was usually the same part that went into all of those vehicles, all spec'd the same, maybe the only difference being a different 'coating' which attributed to things such as noise, etc. Many times, all these parts went into larger assembly's put together by Johnson Controls, who have their hands in a lot of different mfg operations for automotive companies.

All I'm saying is that they may brag about how they're spec'd, when it comes down to it, 9 times out of 10 they're using the same base parts, it just matters in what combination.

I've had AZ, advance, die hard as well as OEM replacement batteries in the past, and they've all held up equally as well. Most of their warranties are about the same these days as well. And you're correct, there are different conditions for north/south types of weather and driving, but I know for a fact working for both AZ and Advance in recent years that the batteries they ship to Florida are the same batteries they ship to New York; If a battery can be made to handle extreme cold weather, it can be made to handle the extreme hot as well.
