Pics after removal of Valve cover, and of Cleaned engine

So before our little meet up here in MD i decided to change my Valve Cover Gasket...when i took the cover off....this is what i found...

!!!! There was NO SLUDGE!!!!! 261,000+ miles....and thats what i saw....i was shocked. so after replacing the front cover, we gave up on the rear cover because there is just too much shit to take off...so im going to have someone do that, but i also cleaned my engine out with NAPA's Engine Degreaser, not the best pics, and the black cover was off the engine when i took the pic.

i love this thing.....261,000+ and going....

"i change the oil every 3000,"

That's what did it. You, or whoever originally owned the car, was anal about the oil changes. Well done.

the better question is this, actually....why would you EXPECT sludge regardless of mileage?

an engine should never have sludge (Even with that "sludge problem" that the 1mzfe's are "supposed" to have) when the oil is changed regularly

but for real though- good stuff.....

but you've never really done any "real" work until you've changed the rear valve cover gasket on our damn cars

Cool

they never sludge on the front bank, and rarely do on the rear bank. It's everytjing else that causes the problems when you dont change your oil lol.
