gasping air ?

2000 4cyl
At idle .....with my head under the hood over the intake plenum area I can hear an intermittent 'sipping' of air. Is this normal air metering or more likely a vacuum leak etc ?
Thx

a sound clip would help the most. it does make some "sucking" noises but loud is a good indicator of a leak. but if u have to hold ur ear over it and the car runs ok then thats normal.

sounds like a vacuum leak... check your llnes.
It sounds like its gasping for air, but only when the car is at idle. right?

I had this same problem. A line popped out from behind the intake manifold

Also check your EGR. It could be leaking which will lower idle. If it leaks two much idle will be unstable or will stall.
