What engine???

I've never owned a Camry...well an import in general. Just have a quick question since im sure everybody here knows allot more than me about these cars. I bought a 94' Camry
2.2, 4dr. It needs a engine, i hear some people are putting the 2.0 litre engines in these cars. Just looking to see what engine you guys reccommend the 2.2, the 2.0, or i dont even know what else would work with this car. Any help/suggestions would be appriciated.

that 2.0 engine is probably the 3sgte engine... found in the turbo mr2's, celica all trac... but its going to take alot of $$$ to get that done..

Its a non-turbo engine, from what the seller was saying the only modification would be drilling 2 holes in the motor mount plate (rear i think)

heres a link, tho so you can see what engine im thinking about.

This is the motor that i was considering, its a little cheaper than the 2.2, its suppose to get slightly better mpg.

you have the 5SFE .... the 3sfe is a downgrade [3rd generation of the motor, rather than the 5th] ....

your options are as follows:

2.2L Inline 4cyl = 5SFE
3.0L V6 = 1MZ-FE or 3VZ-FE

or do a custom swap with the 3SGTE from an MR2 or Celica

It seems my best bet would be the 2.2 then, im not looking for a "quick" car. Just something i can daily drive thats better on gas then my current car. Thankyou for all the help i REALLY appriciate it.

I have to agree. Stick with the 5SFE engine that came with your car originally. They are robust engines that generally last a long time, if not abused. There are also plenty of them out there and swaping in the same engine should make the swap easier. IMHO.
