some possible causes - throttle body and iac very dirty (clean it); dead fuel pump; broken distributor shaft, or worn out cap and rotor (if your engine has a distributor); dead coil; MAF sensor dead; clogged fuel filter; worn out ignition switch; blown fuel pump fuse. (There are more things possible, unfortunately, but these are all i can think of at the moment)
What he said, find out whether it is spark or fuel that is missing. The first and easiest step - get a can of starting fluid, follow what the can says, see if the engine will run on it for a few seconds. If it does, you now know fuel is the problem, spark is ok and can go from there. If it doesnt even try to run, time to tear into the ignition system.
