ok, i've done extensive searching and looks like i'm in the boat where the 'half shaft won't budge from the center bearing' situation.
i've been hammering away and doing all kinds of stuff for about 5 days now, i'm thinking of just removing the center bearing housing to take out and just hammer off.
Now my question is this...is this housing (which holds the half shaft) a motor mount as well? Will removing this housing cause the motor to fall on my head? Is it difficult to remove and replace?
I really need this fixed, any answers to my questions ASAP are mostly appreciated.

ok well i've removed the 4 bolts and 1 nut which secure this bracket to the motor mount, now how the #%$%*^ do i get it out of there. do i lift up the bracket with the aid of a jack to get it up and over the bolt at the top? is that safe to do even though the axle is still in the tranny? or do i hammer out the shaft from the tranny first?

when i changed the CV boot on my 93 4cyl camry, i removed the C snap ring and bolt and pulled as hard as i can, hammer or pry car didn't help much because there wasn't much room, i ended loose the rear engine mount bracket, 4 bolts on the engine side, 3 bolts on the subframe, pry the axle out of the transmission, then jacked up the engine by oil pan as far up as i can, just barely enough room to slide the whole axle with bracket out. i tried to reach the top of rear engine mount 17mm bolt so i can separate the engine mount from bracket, but there isn't much room to stick a wrench in there as well, a small wrench can fit, but isn't enough torque to turn the bolt.
i've seen this picture and tried it and it does not work. Pipe wrenches are designed to lock through rotation, not lateral sliding like that. Even if it did lock, i don't think there would be enough room to adequately hammer it out.
I've removed the half shaft from the transmission c/w the housing!! YES! now that's it's free in the open, all i need to do is separate the half shaft from the housing.
some tips on getting the bracket out of there...
1. ensure that your strut tower bar is disconnected!!!
2. ensure that you've disconnected the small control arm mount for the motor near the top left of the engine bay (by the power steering fluid)
3. remove the 1 nut at the top for the rear motor mount that the bracket attaches to
4. remove the 2 top bolts connecting the motor to the bracket, and loosen but do not remove the 2 lower ones
5. jack up the engine using a hydraulic jack with a piece of wood between the jack and the oil pan so it won't scratch
6. jack up slowly and make sure that only the motor is being raised and NOT the entire car
7. once you've got the bracket up and clear of the rear motor mount bolt, just remove the remaining 2 lower bolts that attach the bracket to the motor
8. now just easily hammer out the half shaft from the tranny and manuever it out into the open space
i plan to leave the jack under the oil pan for some time to get the half shaft out of the housing, (if i lower it, the engine is just going to fall down). i don't see any way around this, i hope it doesn't damage the oil pan...

that was the exact same thing i did 4 months ago, i even loose front engine mount bolt in addition to the dogbone (side engine torque rod) when jacking up the engine, just need to watch all the wiring and hoses.
after i took the axle with bracket out, my mechanic friend put it on a big vise, and use a big sledge hammer, hit the rod a few time trying to seperate the bearing from the bracket, it would not budge at all, so i can imagine there is no chance i can separate the bearing under the car.
