3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I heard that the buick grand national MAP sensor is an easy fit for the toyotas wanting to upgrade, with the added benefit of being a bitchin 3 bars! Anyone able to verify this? The great thing is they are only 50 bucks new.

Yeah i can really see you cutting up your pristine floor panels to do that.....
But anyway, is someone able to look up the wiring or something, even if it doesn't just plug right in, simple splicing would even be worth the major money savings and the extra BAR.

... Still trying to understand this map sensor.
Are you sure you want a 3 bar map sensor? All it does is extend the sensor range to 44 psi or so. Is your car boosted and you require this extended range? The output from the sensor is something like 0.5 to 5 volts over the specified pressure range. It would seem that you would want a MAP sensor that would be appropriate to your particular engine.
....If your present MAP sensor isn't giving a smooth output voltage, proportional to the manifold pressure, then a different, improved, MAP sensor would be advantageous.
However, you would want to get the correct operational pressure range for your engine.
... The wiring and vacuum hookup look generic ... 3 wires and a vacuum hose.
