3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
gen 1 came in stick with the diesel or standard 4 cyl....gen 2 comes with a 5speed in V6 and 4 cyl....the es250 lexus from this era also comes in stick...there are gen 3-3.5's in stick....ONLY 92-93 SE V6 sedans came avalable in 5speed...the lexus ES300 in 92-93 also cpuld come in a 5speed....all the others are 4cyls with 5 speed......the gen 4 came avalable in 5 speed V6 throughout its whole lifespan, but it is a rare combo....the 4cyl with the 5 speed is more common here too....gen5's and gen 6's only come with 5speed 4cyls, and it is also pretty uncommon here as well
good luck finding one....theyre out there, you just have to look
I drove a 5-speed gen3.5. It's okay for a 5-speed, a bit notchy. Gen4 probably shifts the same. If you're used to a Honda/Acura 5-speed manual transmission, you'll be disappointed with the notchy shifting.
Here's the 5-speed availability on the Gen4s'
1997-1998 CE and CE V6
1999-2001 CE and LE V6
CE V6 was discontinued, hence the 5-speed availability on the LE V6 from 1999. Needless to say, CE 5-speeds are more common than the LE V6, but it's not something you see all the time (like a LE 4-cyl).

Cool, thanks for the info. Does anybody know if the holes for the clutch pedal & acc. are already there? This is what I'm thinking about doing; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j6tt2pN_W3E I already have the car, but I don't want to turbo an auto.
