Difference in California air intake parts?

I just bought a '96 Camry, and need a new air intake hose due to this one being split at the throttle body. I think it takes a 17881-74640 part, but most of the internet ads sell a "federal emission control" hose that evidently is different. I assume it is for California emissions. Can I use this?
Also. supossedly the check engine light is on because of a California sensor near the gas tank being bad. I live in Ohio. so is it a big deal?

Two years later this is exactly my issue.

I've also just bought a '96 Camry, and it needs a new air intake hose.

I live in California, so I may well have a California car, but I don't know how to check. And the online, and ebay auctions have confused me about which hose I need.

Two years later, I've got exactly the same issue. I just bought a '96 Camry, and it needs a new air intake hose. After looking at online part supplies, I am confused which hose I need. Also, how would I tell if I have a California Spec vehicle. I live in California, but I don't know if the car has always lived here.
