Do differential and transmission share fluids?

Hi,

It's not clear to me from the manual whether automatic transmision and and front differential share the same fluid. I am getting ready to drain and replace trnsmission fluid. Do I have to do the same for the differential, or, do they share the same fluid and changing one take care of everything? My car is 99 4cyl camry.

Thanks

PS. Toyota's manual does not say anything about replacing differential fluid. Haynes manual on the over side recommends replacing it every 30,000 miles and claims that two systems do not share fluid.

By the way, what torque to I use for differential drain/fill plugs. My Haynes manual does not list it. Should I use the same value as for the transmission plug (36) ?

Just tighten it a half turn more after it gets pretty tight, it isn't that serious as long as it is tight

On I4 models, the differential and transmission do not share ATF. You must change them separately.

Guys,

I did check the manual before asking this question. Nowhere in the manual does it say that you have to drain and replace differential fluid. It only mentions transaxel fluid. It does not list torque values for differential drain/fill plugs either. I just used 36 and it was fine. Thanks for your replies. With your help I did the job over the weekend.
Thanks
