4th Generation Cleaning Headlights

Hey, another Q here: How do I get these headlights this clear (not my ride)

I messaged this member but don't know if they're still around. My headlights have this dull/yellowish look to them. And I've got the clear corners, that just throws everything off. I've heard meguiars makes some plastx stuff(dunno if that's how it's spelt). Help me out guys. Thanks.

Yep dude, Meguiars PlastX, mine were yellow as shit and they clear as day now. Takes some elbow grease but it does work quite well and it lasts, I tried ordinary polish but it didn't work nearly as well and it always became yellow again.

I was surprise to see this. I wish I knew about it before I got rid of my old car.

At most auto parts store, they sell a special product made specially to clean head lights.

Take a look there and you should find it.

What steps did you take? Did you do follow the same steps as in the link xtremeskier97 posted?

Depending upon how cloudy and rough your plastic headlight lenses are, it may be a lot easier and faster to first wet-sand them with 600-800-1000-1500 wet/dry 3M sandpaper or equivilant. Probably #800 is sufficiently low as long as you use a light touch with your fingers and let the paper cut rather than rely on any pressure from your hand. Use some water with a few drops of dish soap in it and soak the paper for at least 5 mins before sanding. You want to keep the lense well-lubricated to do this by redipping the paper after a few passes. Make a few passes horizontally, then vertically, then wipe if off with a clean damp sponge and inspect. The rougher paper should create even scratches over the entire surface. Once achieved, rinse and clean the lense again to make sure there is no residual abrasive from the previous paper and step up to the next finer paper and repeat. You may want to use separate containers of soap water per sandpaper grade to keep from mixing abrasives and unintentionally scratching the lense deeper than intended. The rougher paper may initially make the lense look worse. Don't panic. Keep going. Once you have finished the passes with #1500 (go to #1800 if you want), you can use a rubbing compound or go to the Meguiars plastic polish product already mentioned and polish it. You may need to apply the compound 2 or 3 times to start bringing up the shine.

This technique should take no more than 25 min per lense and will restore the lense exterior to like new condition.

DO NOT USE SANDPAPER!!! Just use the Megiuars PlastX with a cloth rag and that is it.

i wetsanded mine first, it definitely helped but i needed to get plastx to clean off the haze that sanding leaves. it is a lot cleaner than before but i still cant get it to what i want but hey like 10 years is bound to leave it's mark.

make sure u put wax on it and stuff to keep it clean

I can go ahead an sandpaper'em but I'm just going to go ahead with the Plastx. I want to avoid any uneeded labor (lazy) but If it's still yellow/dull, I'm gonna have to whip out the sandpaper. Thanks guys.
