Window keeps falling down

I have a 1997 Camry LE. The rear left window will not stay up. It seems to have fallen out of the machinery because I can hear it slam around inside the door when driving. There is power to the machinery. How do I fix this?

Thanks!

it's the power window regulator. The cable is broken or the plastic piece that secures the cable to the window mount is broken (common failure). Or, the window glass has fallen off the regulator base (unlikely). The part is likely $200 at a dealer, $100 elsewhere.

Dave - can I fix this on my own (I'm not an expert by any means, but have poked around the car some)? What do you recommend?

Yes, you can fix it on your own. Cost 40-60 and tools.

If you have used a wrench or fix your toilet, you can do it. It's not hard but I have done it twice. The first time was a hassle and the major part is getting the internal door (piece) knob out

look on ebay for WINDOW REGULATOR CAMRY <<YOUR MODEL>>

I bought from this dude and I am completely satisfied.
http://myworld.ebay.com/am-autoparts

I bought from another dude on eBay and the freaking regulator works for 2 weeks and it failed to work. Bought a new one and it works now.

My passanger side broke (toyota original) and I got the part for that dude. It is with my gf at the moment and I will fix it on the weekend.

Another option, junk yard. My yard wanted 100$ for original toyo when i can get it for like 40-60$ off ebay.

Instructions, look up stick or
search for "Regulator"

All the best. PM me if i need help.

Exactly the same thing happened on my driver's window. Plastic piece broke of and I made a replacement of metal sheet piece and it works until today. There was a lot of playing with it so if you don't have time for that just buy the whole window regulator of ebay. Good luck.
