on my gen 3 I could see the outline but it was molded in so cutting would be required along the mold line.

if it really is a nockout plate then knock it out with a small hammer or a big hammer and a peice of round stock or somthing

What type of car do you have? Gen 3 or 4?

On Gen 4 that entire panel comes out with the fog light and dimmer switch attached. Take out the coin drawer, reach up behind the panel and push the entire panel out. It will be immediately obvious what to do from there.

If you had the I4 then your ebrake would be between the seats. But your car is a v6 so the empty pop-out plate is replaced with the ebrake release.

I just took a look at my brother's v6. The plate wont pop out, like you said its molded. Just drill into the damn thing!

This link tells you how to take off the dash. http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4292103119
