Canada Starting problem

Hey my 1995 Camry will not start sometines.
I turn the key and the accessories come on but the engine doesn't start or click or anything.
No sound at all except the accessories. Like the starter didn't get the message. START!!

Then I turn the key back and try again and away it goes.
Sometimes I have to do it twice and sometimes it starts right away.
I cleaned the battery terminals. I had a major tune up done last year, plugs, rotor etc..
What should I do now or what could be the likely cause?
I want to get it fixed before it won't start at all....

Any help gladly appreciated.....Thank Folken

Just replaced my starter. Similar symptom except I would get a single click with every key turn. Sometimes it would start, sometimes it wouldn't. Got worse when it got hot outside. My mechanic friend gave me a tip. Suggested if I couldn't get it started to try rapping the starter with a hammer. Had two occasions when that came in handy. Twisted the key like a dozen times and nothing. Then smacked it with the hammer and it started on the next turn. Second time that happened I drove directly to his shop and had the new starter installed.

Do a search for "starter contacts" and read up on this common problem. You can varify this problem by rapping the starter with a hammer as eddie926 did. If it now starts, you have varified the starter's solenoid contact problem. You can replace the whole starter with a rebuilt one as eddie926 did, replace just the starter's solenoid contacts yourself, or have your original starter professionally rebuilt at an auto electrical rebuilder. The choice is your's.

Sometimes you just don't hear the clicking noise. My 98 Camry was like that, but I had the whole starter professionally rebuilt anyway and the problem was gone.
