Coolant Hosing Help.. - 97 Camry (Maintenance)

Hello,

I keep with the usual changes but since I am at it, I mgiht as well spend a bit more and change more things at once. I want to change the coolant.

Are there any suggestions for maintenance? I am wondering what ATF I should be using. Would MOBIL 1 be too slippery?

The car has about 50k and although it isn't that high in mileage, I am hoping to change some of the major hoses. However, I am unfamiliar with the name of some of them and whether or not it is easily accessable.

Thanks.

if you are doing your basic rad hoses, then they should all be available (usually as cut-to-fit) at your local auto stores....but be very careful as they never seem to seal quite as well as the oem hoses. for the bypass hoses, they are only found at the dealer (but I doubt you're changing those anyway).

and mobil 1 synthetic atf will work just fine.

but in reality....your car is really still in its infant stages....so you shouldn't have to worry about changing any hoses at all

Thanks for the reply.

I'm planning on doing a coolant drain/refill and since I'm gonna be doing so, I might as well change the 2 major hoses and thermo.

I tried locating the thermo, is it right above/near the oil filter?

I did the usual maintenance, but I see some oil around the valve cover, and I couldn't locate how, or what screws to access it?
