Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Yep, I FINALLY got it, I posted before saying I was gonna get a "V4" then I was nicely corrected to "I4" then I did some research and figured the V6 wasn't that bad of an idea after all. So yeah, I got a 1993 V6 Camry LE, 191,000 km on it, Pretty good condition, Cert, Emissions everything for $4000 Can (with taxes).
I love the golden trim on the outside, anyone know the story behind that? Is it part of the V6 LE's back in 93? I've seen V6 LEs here that don't have that.
I still have to wax it and stuff, so the colour doesn't look that nice, (like Geoff's). In fact I'm not sure if it's the same Colour or not.
Anyways, any tips/suggestions appreciated.
Here are some pics!

Really? The dealer had no idea, it's a little loose, and a little bit of gunk can be seen where it connects, Dunno man, I thought it was stock, perhaps an optional thing?
Oh some things that I need to fix and could use advice:
1) The hood is powered by pumps, that... no longer hold it up much, any ideas to make em work again?
2) The steering is "floaty" in a certain sense
3) The A/C is a bit weak too, i mean winter's coming so w/e, but still
4) There's a rattling noise when I give it gas
1. You need new hood shocks.
2. Get used to it
3. Recharge with r134a (i believe)
4. Could be a part of the exhaust system (i.e. flex pipe, muffler, cat)

1) What Sniper said... you can find hood struts pretty easily, and just replace 'em. I did that with my wife's 93, and it's better than new.
2) Yeah, there could be some loose bushings making it float, and it's boosted a lot for ease of steering so that's gonna be that way. If you can drive another 93 and see if it feels the same, maybe you can get a sense for whether yours if more 'floaty' than typical, to where you might consider having things looked at, parts replaced, or whatever.
3) My wife's 93 is getting weak as well, needs to be recharged. As with hers, your 93 is from the older R12 Freon days. If you want it recharged you might wanna check to see whether it has been upgraded to R134 or not. Either way, a recharge is probably all you need. Now, my Dodge truck has a significant leak somewhere, so it needs more than just a recharge... I pumped R134 in and it made cold air for awhile, then died again. Hopefully yours isn't the same. If you do recharge it yourself, consider the kind that has a red dye in it to help you spot leaks.
4) Again, I think Sniper is right on (...that Sniper guy is a GENIUS!!)... sounds like exhaust.

OH, and I've never been a fan of steering wheel covers... If you're interested, check eBay, there's a lot of steering wheels there for cheap. I'm talking OEM replacements, not just the Momo aftermarket stuff. If you decide to do this, you need to find out what type of wheel you have (not just "93 Camry") since they vary between those made in Japan and US. Come back and ask for more info if you wanna go that route.

Thanks dude! There's some rust here and there but i mean, 93 watcha gonan do, you have the same hubcaps as me eh, pretty nice for stock..
wait maybe not you, but someone who posted in the Pics forum
Yea, I also have the same hupcaps, but I painted mine because they were in bad shape. I am hoping to get some rims soon, but college is starting soon so I'm not sure.
Wow, that'd be nice if it were possible to get those caps as actual rims.
The steering is impressive, though, right? Pretty damned scary how well it works at low engine speeds, too. Check the air pressure in the tires, just to be sure. Should be 32 psi on the fronts and 30 psi in the rear...assuming it's the same for you canucks. The guy I bought mine from had like 40 psi on one side (front) and like 25 psi on the other side (front). Needless to say, correcting the pressures solved the 'alignment' problem.
