What kind of struts?

What kind of struts would be best for buffering going over bumps and whatnot?

When I go over a bump my car smacks the top of my tires basically, so .... I don't want coilovers, because I know those are a stiff ride.

I want a nice smooth ride where speed bumps, bumps, and potholes in general are not noticeable....

Thanks in advance.

I'm using stock sized tires, so I think the ride will be nice with those struts....

Can anyone clarify this?

4th Generation

You will have a nice, smooth ride w/ the KYB's and stock tires. I rolled with that setup for 3 weeks before putting the 17's on. I had Eibach springs on so it was a bit stiffer.

I ask because I am also looking into replacing all my struts....as they have never been changed in the cars 321,000 mile history.

Thumbs up

320,xxx on stock struts
That had to be one bouncy ride! My '99 had the stock struts on til 130,xxx and the ride was awful then.
Do yourself a favor, replace all of the struts and mounts at one time. If you can swing it, grab some Eibachs or H&R springs and reeally make it new! It was sooo worth the extra $.

I want to do the monroe quickstruts with sensa-trac struts in them all the way around. It's cheaper and replaces everything.

Ive found them as low as $299 for the rear set and $299 for the front set.

Plus...it would be a HECK of a lot easier to change.

What do you'll think?

And it's not bouncy....you just hear the struts fully extend and make a clunk sound when going over really bumpy roads. The majority of the miles on this Camry are highway miles though. It's been from Northern VA to FL countless times.....to Maine countless times...and to Canada just north of Washington State. Not to mention going to CA a few times and to Louisiana a couple times....all beginning from Northern VA. This car's been all over the map!
