3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Sounds like a horrible idea to me. You really aren't getting anything out of it. Maybe better gas mileage but it won't be worth it after all the money you spend on the swap.
Let's be real, guys.. it's a Camry. It's heavy, boring, slow and handles like ass. It's allowed to have an autotragic
I'd be keen on a 5-speed replacement for my own Camry, too.. but given how new they are, I suspect that the cost/benefit would be a little lopsided on the cost end of things. Also, since a lot of the A/T controls are ECU-related, it may not really be possible.
the benefits would be the satisfaction of having a finished the project, 5 speed automatic, and experience, but if the second best option outweighs that in terms of money then it isnt worth it..
thats what i meant to say i believe.. maybe i did get an f - =/
its slow, but not heavy ... and it handles better than alot of other cars ive driven!
Only a stripped, base model gen3 coupe was 2900lbs.. Anything past that was around 3000, and the V6s are 3100-3300, depending on trim. The Gen5 picked up a lot more weight than that, and the new Gen6 is even more of a pig. The base models are 3300lb cars!
But again, 2900 lbs is heavy when you have only a cruddy 130hp 4-cyl lugging it around
