Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Supposed to be "hit". Anyway, I have a '99 5 spd and when lightly accelerating in 1st and 2nd gears, around 2,800 rpm, the engine suddenly gets a big shot of power. Like I just stabbed the throttle. LIkely does it in all gears but 1st and 2nd are low and thus one would feel such things more. Been doing this since I bought it a year ago. Any ideas?

Yes, I figured it may be where the powerband kicks in as I have felt that on many V-8 engines I've built. Only this is so dramatic at such little throttle opening. The V-8s did not show it much unless you had your foot in it at least half way. Maybe just a combo of the manual trans and a small engine.
