Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
ok...just recently i started my car and i notice that on the dashboard where it has the engine temp. right below it to the left, theres this yellow pic of my car with the tail light on......wtf is that..........its okay when i start the engin the thing turns off........but once i put it in drive it comes back on..........help plz...........
btw.........its a v6 xle camry.......gen3.............
if it helps just put in ur key in the ignition.......and you'll see the thingy in yellow next to ur engine temp gauge..........
have a friend check it for you when you push the brakes or back up next to something you can see the reflection in.. or you can use the broom stick trick haha
you said it yourself .... "pic of my car with the tail light on" .... therefore, its a taillight indicator
1157 is the taillight/stoplight bulb number, so go buy some and either replace them yourself [its easy] or bring it to Sears Auto Center or something like that and they'll replace them for cheap

yea it's brake light i had the same damn light go out on me twice, for some reason these gen 3's the light on the right side of the trunk goes out a lot, i've seen at least 6 or 7 other gen 3s with that particular light out, and it's happened to me twice
But if your tailights are working then nvrm what i said.
I had this problem for a long time and couldnt figure it out my tail lights were working but the light was on... Turns out one of the wires got cut or broke some how on the trunk hinge therefore my lights on the center panel lit up...but didnt get brighter when i braked. Maybe you have the same problem...

first of all i would like to thnx all those who replied................thnx guys...........
second........midnight.........how did u fix your problem????........because i think the same might be happening to mine..........at first the bulb was dead..........but replaced it and the thingy still was on liked u said.........so how would i go apond fixing this thing.........i cant stand driving and having to see that there is something yellow on my dashboard..........thnxs
If you're sure all your lights are working (including that 3rd brakelight) then I'd recommend two things to check. Personally I had problems with the 3rd brakelight holder being burnt and causing enough resistance to give the warning light. So have others. Think what midnite's talking of is the harness by the left hinge? Read about this many times but haven't had the problem yet. (knock on wood)
Yea the wires go down the left trunk hinge just take off the wire cover and inspect all the wires. If it was like mine you will notice since it was split into 2.... I think the wire was white with a green stripe.... i think
