Im looking to build my motor for Nitrous because im going to be getting a new car in a little while anyway so i will be able to tear the motor out of the camry and build it in my garage without the worries of not having a mode of transportation.
My question is this, Will the Cams out of a 3sgte fit the 5sfe? Im asking because since its a factory turbo car it should have a longer duration on the exhaust side anyway due to the fact that air is being forced in, And a longer exhaust duration is what you want with a nitrous cam anyway so i figured it would be a good camshaft and not affect the driveability much. Any helpful information would be appreciated.
I may not know much but isnt the 5sfe not a true dohc design so the intake cam drives the exhaust cam unlike the 3sgte so it wouldnt make sense for it to be useable the exhaust cam but im just using common sense here so dont finalize your answer on me...
Thanks for the replies, It is true that the intake cam drives the exhaust cam on the 5sfe but i figure its just driving the cam so even if you put a different one it it should still drive that one too, I appreciate all the replies i have a couple months before anythings gonna be getting done anyway so i have a while to research. Thanks again guys.
yeah the 3sgte won't fit, it doesn't have the teeth on the end where the exhaust cam would be run as a slave off of!! while the 3sgte cams are a lil better then that of the 5sfe the major difference are the ports for the 3s, THEY ARE HUGE PORTS for both intake and exhaust its a beautiful head if you ask me, damn near perfect!!!!!!!!!
