scratched main bearing - help

new bearing installed, torqued down to check with plasti-gage, took off and scratched in 2 places length of bearing, crank not turned during checking process. useable or trash, can I buy only one bearing????

if u run your fingernail over the scatch.. does your nail dig into it.. if so.. replace.. if not.. i would jsut replace it .. since your alreayd there

is the scratch copper colored? that would be deep. if it's gray, then it's fairly shallow and probably ok for street use.

fingernail picks it up but doesn't dig in, you can just feel it, not perceptible to finger, just nail. no copper showing.

Did you purchase these bearing in a rebuilt kit as a complete set? Most name brand bearings and Toyota OEM should also be sold in sets of two (upper and lower bearing shell). Do a little research.
