3rd Generation Short-Ram Air Intake: The Semi-Cheap Route

When I first came on these forums, o found that one of the easiest little mods you could do to your Camry to make it sound and drive better was to change the air filter. A lot of us on here went out and bought air intakes from Injen, K&N, Weapon R, etc.

Well, as many of you know, there's a bunch of us here on the forum that aren't too hot on spending too much money, me being one of them.

About a month ago, I went into my local Kragen Auto Parts, and bought the $25 Spectre High Flow Air filter, installed it, and was more than satisfied with the new sound.

Just yesterday, I finally gave in and ended up buying and installing the $45 Spectre Air Intake Pipe, and became even more satisfied with the even deeper roar that it let off.

To show you guys some before and after results, here's a video I put togther.

The Evolution of my Camry's Air Filter

All in all, I spent $70 (Thank God for Kragen's 10% Military Discount)

And it looks a little something like this:

Spectre's shit is really cheap. When I was younger, I got tricked into buying a pipe from them and then found out it was just chromed out PVC.

I'd go with a weapon-r for a new intake.

Don't worry Venom, I did all that neutral revving AFTER i did the sound-while-driving test, and the engine was well warmed up even before I started that.

And yes, now that my little brother's home, I can have him hold the camera

if you have the V6, get the AEM CAI .... slightly higher performance than an SRI

if you have the 4cyl, the AEM wont fit ... so you are best off getting the Weapon-R Secret Weapon Intake, or the Weapon-R Dragon Intake
