fuel problem?

so 96 v6 m/t.

so i try and start it up and it just stumbles out.

after a few trys it idles at 800 or so rpm no fast idle.

touch the gas even after letting it idle for 5 min stumbles out and dies,

i know the engine wants to run because it really trys to come back from when it stumbles out.

so far replaced the fuel filter, air filter, and cleaned the maf sensor.

i disconected the ect to throw the ecu in open loop mode didnt help.

changing the filter helped a wee bit.

the night before all this the engine was racing like a champ.

Does the idle come back to normal after 10 mins, 15 mins?
Does touching the gas help to start the engine?
Anyway it sounds pretty much to me as the Idle Control Valve problem.
If your car was fine a night before, then it might also be some wire problem, try to reconnect some of the wires, MAF, ICV, etc.

chk fuel pressure at idle should be about 48psi, and i agree with hoiskii sounds more like a iac valve problem to me.

Just out of curiosity, check the connections of the air hose that supplies the throttle body. Also look for cracks & breaks. Anything that would leak air. Since it was running great the night before I doubt this is the cause but...

yep any air entering the engine after the air flow meter will make them doing funny things, die, misfire, all kinds of driveability issues. Good advice.

well brought this back because i didn't want a new thread

so some days when i start her i have a low idle like 400rpm reeks of unburnt fuel, then after like 15 seconds kick right up to 2k rpms.

so this the iac sticking and choking the engine right? or am i in some kind of crazy fest where i need cry my self asleep trying to figure out?

so far done it 3 times in the last month. like i said i think the iac is just freezing
