Help getting driveaxle back in

I have a 1992 4cyl Camry that has a leaking passenger side axle seal in the differential. Following the Haynes manual, I removed the entire driveshaft to replace the seal. Replaced the seal no problem, but I have a bear of a time getting the driveshaft back into the transaxle, mainly the last inch or so. I also tore the inner CV boot in the process, so I have to replace that also. I have the entire driveshaft out again so I can fix the boot, and I am figuring out what to do to the get the axle back in. I did coat the intermediate shaft bearing with liquid wrench in case that is what is getting stuck, but no luck Haynes makes it sound like the axle should slide in and out of the differential like butter, with no extra force or tools required. Ha!

I found one post that mentioned a C Clip has something to do with ease of getting axle in and out of differential. Is this referring to the snap-ring?

Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks

^ what he said

just be careful to keep it as straight as possible

personally, my axles just slid in and out no problem (for the half-shaft, only after the removal of the mount of course)
