3rd & 4th Generation (19921996 & 19972001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Had mine done, don't think my mechanic charged me very much think, all up the cost was like $55 or something, so it wouldn't be that hard to do.
BTW, thats a very clean engine bay. How come ur car says 2000? Mine says 2200. Something special, or is that just how the US motors come?
Here in South Africa....we are robbed of the good things in life (from Toyota). My car is the Gen 3 camry, but the engine is the 3sfe, similiar to the Gen2 motor. We had the option of 2.0, 2.2, and then 3.0. Unfortunately, accessories are damn difficult to find.., not too mention the price of parts...!!
Thanks for the complement...i cleaned the bay on that day.

Go for it !
I'm go for it! I know that the engine needs to be jacked from below.., but where would the best place to jack it be? Anything i need to consider so that i dont cause any damage?

you need to have jack to hold the engine underneath before you take the engine mounting off...once you take the engine off and put a new engine mount, you need to tide the reverse order then release the jack ...you're done...very easy...and it takes me for 30 mins to do the job..
You don't have to support the engine to remove the dogbone. If you can't easiley remove it then you have a broken/bad front/rear motor mount. The dogbone only controls back and forth movement.

I'd park the car at a slight downhill slant though. Usually takes more pressure off the dogbone mount. Then just pull the old one out, and slip the new one on.
