Question should i do body work or engine work first

i got a "96 camry V6 LE" It was my mom old car it got
"210,667"miles on it, and it runs great. Next friday
i will have money for my body kit, Should i go ahead
and get it or just start on working on the car
performance. I'm not going to have people calling my
car a rice and its already fast i'm 2-0 on races.
Which one should i do first ???????????

your car IS going to be rice if you keep up the mentality that you have ...

exactly what do you think you can do in terms of performance anyways? do you know anything about the platform that you want to work on?

if you race anyone that knows what they are doing, you will lose ... even with a V6

get an idea of how much money you have and what exactly youre thinking of in terms of body & engine work, and we will all help you make a list

That's a good question!

My guess is do the body and paint work first.

The car is already fast so I save the engine work last.

Sounds to me that you may have to replace engine considering the miles on it. So while the engine is out, you can also paint inside the engine bay.

After you finish painting the car, than you can start working on the engine like replacing it.
Don't do cheap job on the body and paint work. You will regret it later. So if you have the money (which sounds like you do) get a good body and paint shop.

Has the car had any major work done it before? Has it been maintained as it should've been? How much money are you willing to spend?

I really don't know why people don't just limit their modding to suspension. It's the best thing for our cars.

I'm gonna be honest with you. Reading this topic every one here is stereotyping you completely of being that typical high school kid who got his moms car and watched too much fast and furious.

Let me just tell you what everyones thinking. The camrys not worth putting money into. If your making that dolla, save it up man. you don't have to blow whatever money you get. If you do seriously want to mod this car and you honestly do like it that much, don't half ass anything, go all out. eye8pussy is a good example of this. He's got a great car and has the show and the go covered. You should be planning an engine swap like previously mentioned. Your best options include another 1mz-fe with lower mileage or a 3sgte (turbo celica engine..i-4). Maybe you'll wanna do a tranny swap at this time and go manual.

As far as racing, I don't know what the rules on these boards are about discussing it but honestly, chill with the street racing dom.

I am in a similar position as you. I got my 96 v6 xle off my mom and I'm a senior in high school who loves cars so naturally I wanna spend money on it. I know my camry doesn't have much more potential for power without going for some forced induction so I'm gonna get all the suspension mods and hit some autocross events in hopes that every other car in my class is shitty.

In the end it's up to you but these guys here are just gonna be giving you the best ideas from their own experience.

I'd say do some engine work. Get a nice tune up.
What kit were you wanting to do?

And may I ask what did you race?

from personal experience, i would say just do some simple stuff to make the car more enjoyable...

my two things would be a set of springs and a cold air or short ram intake...if your going to do more, maybe a sound system...an engine swap like these guys are talking about will be a lot of money, especially if you do it with good parts and labor, i was going to do the swap earlier this summer, my swap which would include lowering compression of the motor, good internals, double strength head gasket, and a decent turbo setup with a 5 spd conversion was going to cost me about 10gs all said and done....

i just did springs and intake to start off, and realized id save my money and my car for when i have a real good paying job, and then build the car...

i still love this car, it has so much potential, but because its not a mustang or a civic, they dont make all those bolt-ons and shit for our cars, so it can get wayyy expensive...
