Question Headlight Bulb Replacement Gen 3 I4

I just got some replacement bulbs for my headlights, because one of them burned out. I got stock replacements so I can replace the bulbs on both sides. I was looking at my Haynes manual, and it says to first disconnect the negative terminal on the battery. Is this really needed? If yes then, is it safe to do it with my bare hand or should I pry it off with some non-metal thingy?

Second, I can't find the harness that leads to the bulb. Am I looking at this the wrong way? Or do I have to move other stuff out of the way first? Do I have to removing the headlight housing? The book just shows screws, but I don't see screws. Where are the screws?

Thanks for any help.

Go to the back of the headlight, find the wires, follow them to the harness/socket, turn the socket 1/4 turn counter clock wise (the only way it will turn) and pull it out.
There is a tab you need to press to get the bulb off the harness.

The only thing you shouldn't do is touch the glass of the bulb. Your skin oils could make it shatter when it heats up.

If you already have touched it, wash it off with water, a paper towel and a tiny drop of dish soap.

BLUEMEANIE is such a smarty-farty, huh? He often does hardcore head-light bulb installs! :p Heh! Why didn't ya get some cheap Xenons off eBay? Now that you know how to do it... next time you need some new ones, you can change em in a couple of secs!

I reccomend cleaning your bulbs with some 75% Isopropyl Alcohol and a lint free cloth, just my 2 cents, I haven't had to replace my Xenons for over a year now!

Hey I just didn't want to bust the bulbs. I just visioned myself breaking them into many many pieces, and didn't want to shell out another 30$ a bulb . I prefer Stock over Xenons, cuz I read a couple articles about Stock being better that Xenons in bad wheather, besides the Xenons draw too much bad attention.
Thanks for your $.02

stock H4's are 1650/1000 Lumens and silverstars are 1350/1000

You actually get the same light (lumens) from the stock bulb on low beam and more light on high beam with stock. with better contrast. with blue tinted bulbs it just looks like more light to the naked eye. The human eye can not focus properly on blue light so we see all the glare and go ohhhhh wow.

9006 silverstars are 1000 lumens +/-10% and i think they aim for the upper 10% error. the 9005's are 1700 lumens and +/-10%, again, aiming for the upper 10% error
