3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I bought my new never installed Whiteline rear sway bar from some one here in July. I never got a chance to use it cause my car was in an accident. When the car was in the body shop, I asked them to install the sway too while they were repairing the car.
So right now my car has rims and a silver Whiteline RSB. People have said that you don't feel the sway unless you are lowered. I'm feeling the sway even though I'm not lowered.
Today I drove to school to clearify some homework issues with my teaching assistants(I missed class cause I was sick at home and didn't know what to do). There is this huge uphill right hand ramp thingy which I take at 70km/h normally, and have done 90 before when I was in a real hurry. Everyone goes up this thing fast because of how its built. Today, I encountered lift rotation for the first time on it. I was going at around 60ish up the hill and I let off the gas and I felt the car slightly rotate. Only thing my car ever did was understeer there. Definitely an eye opener.
Just now when I was coming home, I did a left turn really quick because I almost missed the intersection, I got the same feeling where the car slid sideways again... it was creepy, and I've never felt a car do that before....
ur gonna have more oversteer because u dont have the lower center of gravity that u get when u lower so u may see more oversteer then someone who does. personally, ive found it difficult to break teh rear loose in my gen3.
My car isn't really breaking loose, its just feels like its more willing to shift its behind around. I'll see when I go autocrossing next month on the new sway bar.
There's also a TRD one which a lot of people seem to like better, and it has the ability to be set up for either street or sport (2 places to bolt the end link up to, I think)

I have the Whiteline bar and the best way to decribe the advantage is the rear doesn't "sway" as much. I can really tell a difference when my trunk is full. My car also remains flater in curves.
Bear
I can tell you right now that my car handled amazingly better after I installed a TRD RSB on my Gen 3 (track setting ftw!), and a lot of the guys here on TN have commented that you'll get a real boost in handling, regardless of your suspension setup (mine is stock).
Of course, the installation guide that came with my sway bar tells you in bold letters, "After installation, the vehicle will handle differently. Be sure to get used to the car's new characteristics before you get into an unexpected situation."
I would recommend going to a big empty parking lot and messing around with your car a little bit, just to test its new handling characteristics and limits.
I can tell you that the TRD RSB + BF Goodrich G-Force Sport tires = amazing handling

hmm, anyone post a link where i can get a swap bar?
Like Venom said, head over to SolaraGuy.com, make an account there, and send a PM to NVDIS1 (i remember it because when you sound it out, it sounds like, "Envy This One"). The guy's name is Reggie, and he'll give it to you for $150, shipping included.
You get a nice business card from him along with the bar too
