I have a Camry XLE 1997, wanted to change the rotors and bleed the brakes.
I forgot where i left my manual and i did a search but couldn't find out. Does my vehicle use a DOT 4 or DOT 3? =) thanks.

I recall reading 80 ilbs for the wheels lug nuts. Also i wnated to ask what type of grease should i buy? for the caliper pin
i remember using a kind of grease but no sure which to lube it back.

When its vibrating like heck =) like mine. LOL
You can use a mircometer to see the specs to measure run out. There is a factor spec. Also sometimes visually like you can visually see warpage.

bleed the hell out of your brakes! the original fluid is dot 3 and it is listed on the brake fluid reservior cap.

theres no real torque spec for the rotors.

its about 83 pounds for the lugs

areyou speaking about grease for the brake pads or grease for the calliper sliding pin (13mm upper bolt). Brake pads you can just get any anti squeel (highly recommended to do so), and the other calliper bolt you can use anti squeel grease too if you want since you just need something that can withstand high temps. I am assuming also that you're getting new brake pads too.

are you just replacing to OEM rotors or brembo blanks? those are the way to go if u havent already gotten ur rotors.

Well i am about to do them right now. The grease i bought now, it was just for the caliper guide pins. As for the brake pads..no using the old ones they are still fairly new.

The replacement rotors are the oem brembo replacements.

For the caliper slide pins I would recommend "high temperature silicon disc brake grease".

As far as the wheel torque, 76 ft lbs is the exact figure, but most shops use an 80 ft lb torque stick. I use 80 ft lbs with my torque wrench.

All done guys, thanks for all the feedback.

Got my new oem rotors on. Brakes well now. Drained pretty much all the dot 3 put in the prestone dot 4 ^___^ all in a day's work lol.
Anyhoo =) while doing the rotors. i saw my emergency brake pads were crap though..like really thin and about to fall out lol. I guess i should get a shop to do that some day..
I don't have the tools to do that =). I'll snap some pics tommorow i guess if anyone interested hehe.

I'm interested in the pics. How long does it take to bleed the brakes? The dealer wants $110 to do mine.

Hmm well it was quite simple for me. The reason being i had the tools. I have a decent jack and stands so just took a few mins. Then i use my air compressor to take off the wheels.
Prob took about 10mins or so. Just keep topping up the brake fluid and have someone help is much quicker.
Had a buddy of mine pump the brakes for me. If you have a friend who knows how to teach u to bleed the brakes that'd be better though. Is quite simple but you have to make sure its done right. Unscrew the bleed plug its like a size 8mm then let it drain for a bit. Shut it back then tell someone or u pop in the seat and pump the brake a few times till it gets hard. Then after that the person inside if helping you just tell them to hold the brake down or if not you go back outside and release the bleeder plug again the fluid will come out. Pretty much this whole process is to make sure no air is in the system. Crucial is checking the master cylinder and making sure the fluid is topped up so its not like running on no brake fluid=). So ya...hope that helps man.

Here's my parent's car all done. All new rotors =) brembo replacements.
Also sorry for the pictures..should of took pictures with the wheel off...but whatever. You all get the point.

In total the parts were like under 280usd or something the 4 rotors from Tirerack
Then i just went to my local car store to buy the Prestone Dot 4 brake fluid. Then lastly the guide pin grease...which were the weird black or green coloured type.
