4th Generation Air comming from dipstick tube ?

I was wondering, Is normal for air to be coming out of the dipstick tube while the engine is running ? I have a gen 4 Camry ce I4 around 77,000 miles on the clock.

Edited to add:

I was topping off the oil and forgot to put the dipstick back in before I started the engine and notticed air comming from the tube.

I replaced the pcv valve and it is working But there is still air coming from the tube.

Would there be any thing other than pcv that would couse it ?

Is air coming out of the dipstick tube when the dipstick is all the way in....or are you (for some reason Id like to know) trying to check the oil while the engine is running?!

No, this is not normal.

And I would venture to say it is very very serious.

I know for Volvos, the same symptoms is caused by the PCV system getting clogged. Eventually, so much pressure builds up that your rear main seal will blow out (you need to take out motor to replace it).

You want positive crankcase pressure which means that it should be sucking in.

bad....Bad...BAD...

I would take it to a shop, but thats just me. Knowing me, major DIY repairs would end in failure
