Im not sure where the sound is coming from... but whenever I accelerate or press on the gas, there is a squealing sound. The squealing sound subsides if I release the gas pedal, but continues when I push on it again.
...no serpentine belt on these vehicles.
There is a timing belt .... has it been replaced within 60k miles?
There are two accessory belts .... power steering and alternator. Have they ever been replaced?
What is the maintenance history of your vehicle? What is your vehicle?

i believe the timing belt has been replaced
my cars mileage is 140k and im not sure about the power steering and alternator belts
ill have to ask my mumsy
Just a wild guess .... but there is a timing belt idler pulley, within the timing cover /belt assembly that has sealed bearings, which can wear out after high mileage.
Maybe try to listen with a stethescope or other sound device and locate the area of the noise as you rev the engine ... in park.

I am having a problem similar to this one. But it only happens very rarely, like once every 5 trips as a rough estimate. It only does it when I accelerate, but after I let off the gas and push down again it stops and never returns (until next time...).
i had the same problem, its definately the belt that runs the alternator (brain fart cant think of its name). it happened to me like 6 months ago. i tightened the belt and it kind of fixed it so i just replaced it and made sure it was tight. havent had a problem since. the old belt wasnt that old so my guess is that it just randomly got a cut or something in it somewhere lol
I would suggest checking for any leaks with a flash light and a piece of card board under car over night (if possible). belts love to squeal when wet...
JohnGD makes a good point about checking fluid in transmission. make it hot by driving lcoally for let's say 30 mins locally (since cold start in now cold weather) then on running car check fluid level (you may need to go through all gears on selector back and forth to make it accurate reading).
note the color (should be clear red/pink) and ... smell it also. if it stinks badly, prepare for a flush... soon.

Is there smoke rolling off the front tires when you hear the squeal ? If so it's your tires spinning making the squeal.
Solution: Stop hitting the NOX button or remove the super charger.
LOL...i couldn't resist!!
