Hi, I've got trouble wit my camry'01. The problem is that my taillights don't turn off after shutting down ignition... I have to press brake to turn them off. Is this a factory setting? or its just some kind of trouble with taillight?
Another trouble with headlight. Only one headlight is turning on when riding in a daytime. But when I turn on hibeam both of them works great.
Can somebody help me? I bought this car only three days ago... So I'm newbie
Sorry for my english...
Tails sounds like a problem, or a blown fuse. My dads van used to do that.
And the headlights sounds like the one that is out needs to be replaced or a wire is cut
Do you actually have the Daytime Running Light feature .... DRL?
Are you sure both headlights are on bright when on?
The headlights are dual filament .... one on for dim, two on for bright. Replace the one that's not working and see if that solves the headlight problem. .... Usually good practice to replace both headlight bulbs at the same time.
Tail Light remaining on .... Could be a sticking Tail Light Relay. Maybe additional current caused by brake lights is enough of a disturbance to jar the relay. ... Maybe get a spare Tail Light Relay from a salvage yard to try out as replacement. .... TLR is located in Instrument Panel Junction Block ... Driver Side lower dash .... to the left.

Yes, I'm sure that I have Daytime Running light feature. Switched bulbs between left and right... still one side is not working Searching for DRL relay... can't find... either taillight relay...
Do anybody now where I can find them?
Driver Side lower dash.... there are a lot of fuses... one relay... don't know what its for Couldn't bring it out...
Find the two 15 amp headlight fuses in Engine Room J/B no. 2.
This junction block is inside the engine compartment, and will be to your right as you open the hood.
Check the 15 amp fuses. ... Should be a fuse guide on the inside of the fuse box cover.
If you can open the following link, see p. 18 for a location diagram....
Go to Gen 4, Electrical Wiring Diagram. ...
use IE if you have difficulties opening pdf. ... link should work. http://www.camrymanuals.com/index.ph...=107&topicid=0
... The Tail Light Relay is located in a different junction block ... called the Instrument Panel J/B. You can get an idea of the location of this J/B by looking on p. 19 of the EWD link referred to above. ... it is under the driver side dash panel.

Finally I fixed trouble with stop lights... The only trouble was stop light switch positioned near break pedal... I slightly relocated that switch. Now it works perfectly
Now I'm searching DRL relay... Can somebody help me? I found it on Electrical Wiring Diagram near Ignition key... Don't now how to get there... Or maybe there is any solution to turn off headlights in daytime? I don't need them... We don't have such laws to keep them on in the daytime. the more so because I've got only right side of headlights turned on all the time...

Not completely sure about removing the DRL relay .... there are several interconnected parts.
However, if you just want to deactivate the Daytime Running Lights, you can easily accomplish this by locating a connector labeled IG1. The location of this connector is seen on p. 40 of the Gen 4 Wiring Diagram ... online repair manual ... Gen 4 section. You should see a red wire with a white stripe. One end of the IG1 connector wire goes to the parking brake, while the other goes to the main DRL relay. ... Find a convenient ground connection ... a nearby screw probably, and connect a wire from this chassis ground to the red wire with a white stripe. ... What you are doing here is simulating the parking brake 'ON' condition .... which deactivates the Daytime Running Lights.
This method is safe, in that it deactivates the main DRL relay in a manner that it is designed for .... by simulating the engagement of the parking brake. If you ever decide to reactivate the DRL lights, just disconnect the ground wire.
The relevant circuit diagram is located on p. 100 of the Gen 4 wiring diagram.
Which engine do you have?

Yes, it's nice idea... but would it turn the "BRAKE" light on?
