4th Generation HELP : straw flew into intake

I was cleaning TB and spray straw went into intake(5sfe) . I can't see it

Do you think it would melt ? Should I take TB off and try to fish it ?
Any suggestions ?

Well , I open TB (baterfly or wahtever proper term is ) and I could not see anything . I'll try to use flashlight . Do you think it could have gone all the way down intake mainfold ? I read on Maxima forum , someone used tape over hanger to fish the straw out

Do I need any new gaskets when taking TB off ?

If it's a silicone gasket, you probably will need to.

Lesson, NEVER spray down throttle body with straw in nozzle. I don't think it's such a big problem. I'm not sure the straw will melt being this is the intake. And I don't think the straw will be able to be sucked down inside as I think it's too long to go around corners. If you can't reach it I wouldn't worry about it.

Good idea. I definitely wouldn't drive it with it in there if it was my car...

I was going to suggest that. I did the exact same thing years ago to an 86 Camry. Anyway, duct tape the end of the vacuum hose to the throttle body so it is completely sealed. Then hold the throttle fully open so that throttle valve is horizontal (opened) and then turn on the vacuum. It should be sucked right out if it is not caugth on anything. Open up the vacuum's cannister to check to make sure it has been sucked out.

By the way, the flashlight is also a good idea to see exactly where it is. Use a small LED flashlight it you have access to one. You may be able to reach it with something like a needle nose pliers or a bent piece of wire depending on where it is. If not, try the vacuum method.

Mike

It will melt, if I remember correctly hot fuel vapors and stuff go through there, and it gets hot as hell. My TB melted through a part of my strut bar....

The vacuum relies on flow for suction not vacuum. If you block off the throttle body then the only flow to the vacuum will be from an open exhaust valve, probably not enough flow to force the straw to the vacuum intake. OK to try but I don't think the solution. What may be better would be to attach a flexible piece of rubber vacuum hose to the vacuum nozzle and fish that down the intake and try to hook the straw that way.

general question - is there a metal screen on the camry somewhere in the intake?
most auto parts stores have those long and skinny reachers. they are cheap and can be a lifesaver at times like this.

well , I used flashlight and I could see inside , but did not see the straw . Engine seem to rune fine . I decided not to take TB off . I'll report if something happens to the engine

I have noticed that my RPM are at about 600 when I start my car (warm start ) , when I stop at intersection its about 600 RPM . However , after I stop and put my trans in parking mode , RPM are going to 900 - 1000 ..

I guess my TB cleaning did not go well . When I was cleaning my TB , there was little hole on the side , I think this is port to IAC .. Could it be that dirt got inside of IAC and it mulfunctioning . Should I take IAC off and clean it ?

engine works fine, its just RPM are a little high in parking

car has 156000 , I have replaced IAC at 70000

I also read EBC can cause high RMP at parking .. What is EBC

Thanks
