4th Generation Exhaust gasket leak need opinions please, Also guys who have a Hidden Hitch or simila

Just found this when taking a ride earlier today. The car was pretty loud around 2000 rpms, the noise was coming from the muffler area. I have a bad gasket and it's leaking air just before the muffler. Just a new gasket sounds like it could be a cheap fix but is it really? Anybody did this by themselves?

Also people who have a Hidden Hitch or something similar, how much clearance do you appear to have between the hitch bar and the top of the exhaust pipe? I think mine is pretty damn close and it could've banged on it on startup, causing the gasket to chip away like it did...

EDIT : It WAS the hitch banging on the muffler on startup. I'm gonna have to get it grinded a bit or something, took it off in the meantime.

I have a hidden hitch and there is 2-3 inches between the hitch and the muffler.

By the photo it appears the joint was worked on before. Is that bracket on the left side supposed to be connected to the pipe?

The pipe should clear the hitch by a margin large enough to prevent contact. How are the exhaust pipe mounts?

JUST a new gasket would be, yes.

and from the looks of it, you may be able to do it yourself since the bolt on there seems pretty new...but if it seems too rusted on, take it to a shop where they can torch it off or else you'll snap it, which in the long run will cost more to fix

Obviously a good point I'll check that out. Thanks didn't even notice...

Eye8Pussies : Yeah I was definitely thinking about doing it myself I think I'll buy the gasket right away and then look at it and start gathering some balls.

lol...have fun with the canadian salt/rust....I don't really touch my exhaust much these days for that one reason....some bad experiences...

and toyomoho is right....I think whoever worked on your exhaust last broke that bracket...I think there's supposed to be a little arm attached to that bolt on your exhaust or something along those lines?

I was able to remove one of the bolts, the other one stripped bad. I'm gonna have to invest into some kind of cutting tool...

Anyways I was still able to remove one bolt then slide a crowbar into the gash to keep it slightly open. I scraped the remains of the old gasket with a screwdriver and proceeded to make a new gasket with high temperature silicon, like the bathroom stuff, but it's red and made for cars. It works really well, and will do the trick in the meantime. The car is quiet now.
