Ignition Timing Question

I think the timing is off on my 1994 Camry (4 cyl.). Any tips on how to adjust that without going to a mechanic? I have tried rotating the distributor, and that helped, but I can not get it so it runs perfectly. Right now it pings.

3rd Generation

Get a timing light and see what you're timing is set at currently. Also, you might want to rotate the engine to tdc (top dead center) and see if your crank pulley mark is at zero degrees or within a few degrees. Perhaps your belt slipped a tooth or two and that's what's throwing you off, I dunno.
