Emergency Brakes =)

Hey guys, i am just curious. Awhile back i did the rotors on my dad's car and it turned out great with the oem brembo rotor replacements.
Now my question is regarding the emergency brakes. Well.. when i replaced my rotors at the rear i noticed my emergency brake pads were like really scored or some weird chips in it. So to make a long story short... i was wondering if that part to replace is easy? Looks like a drum brake from what i recall. As well where can i buy the pads for the emergency brake?

^___^ any help appreciated. Thanks

This combo disk and emergency brake drum setup is common. Call a few autopart stores or worse case the dealer. Not any more difficult to replace then standard brake drum brake just make sure you keep track of where all the parts go and how they are installed.

Download the Generation 3 Brake Section from the link below:

I presume that you have a v6 then?

and the shoes are only available from the dealership...you buy them in ones....you'll need 4 of them to replace them all.

Theyre not technically difficult, but they can be a real bitch to both install and adjust (yes, you have to adjust them).

When you install them, the hardest part is getting those springs set. Theyre not hard to pull, but they can be very difficult to both pull and try to hook them onto where they go at the same time.

The adjustment part can also be aggravating, as you're supposed to adjust them so you feel slight resistance with 2-3 clicks of the ebrake, but "slight resistance" can be hard to tell at times.

^ what he said....the adjustment part is the most time consuming- otherwise, it's pretty simple
