just changed oil, added slightly too much

i added about 4 quarts into my 96 5sfe, but the dipstick is indicating that i have a slight overflow, about 1 cm above the full indicator... is it necessary that i should i remove some?

I wouldn't worry about it... have you ran the engine since you added the oil? That could make it drop a little... not sure.

yep i changed the filter too of course ! i wasn't paying attention when i poured in the last quart lol i know the 5sfe capacity is 4 qts, but there was probably some leftover oil that didnt get completely drained that's causing it to be a little over full

I just looked at my owners manual and the engine oil capacity for 5S-FE..... 3.8 qt with filter, and 3.6 without...anyways Ur OK...don't worry......4 isn't going to cause any damage.

I regularly put 4 quarts in to my 5SFE engines. Never have had a problem.

I've always put 4 qts in my 2000 Camry with 5SFE and never had a problem. I did that for almost 7 years covering over 80 thousand miles.

I saw the same in the specs sticky, that's why looked at the OM..I remembered it being a little less than 4 qt Its 5.0 on my 1mz with the filter 4.8 without!....I still haven't figured out why they include oil capacity without the filter..I've never changed my oil and not the filter...I guess some people do tho!
