Problems with my Camry

My 93 V6 is havin a couple small probs..

-The passenger side window, really struggles to get all the way up and gets stuck sometimes. WD40 somewhere? Or is it electrical...

-My engine was giving off fumes after give it gas (While stationary, and with normal Engine temp), however now I added some solution with the last oil change that is supposed to stop Engine fuming/smoking and now it's good, however...any one got any tips, I'm kinda worried im doing some damage and I'm just not noticing it cuz im not looking for the fumes and/or the gunk/solution has hidden the problem..

-And finally a newb question, If i were to replace the stock audio deck (with tape, and a radio reciever that gives me some SERIOUS feedback :S), with a nice basic Sony one (cd player, and ofcourse the all imp AUX input), will that give me a boost sound quality wise? Or is imperative to replace the speakers as well..

Basically..are the speakers in the 93 Camry V6 LE, underpowered?

Thanks.

1) I have the same problem, I have no solution so please tell when you tried some things.
2) I also have the same problems, I found out when it reaches near it's match RPM is when it gives off it's fumes, I changed the oil, and check the spark plugs still no help.
3) It will only slightly improve the sound quality. Depends how many watts and what kind of deck you install.

Typically an aftermarket deck will increase the sound quality a lot. It won't give you more bass or anything, but it will sound much cleaner. I always recommend upgrading the speakers, but it was hard for me to do because the premium sound system sounded damn good for stock.

While I do recommend an after market head unit, I would caution you against getting a Sony. Every one of my friends that ever had a Sony head unit had it die on them in less than a year. I would personally recommend Pioneer, Kenwood, or JVC.

I would open up the door panel and clean out the window channels and lubricate the regulator mechanism, especially if it is the older scissors type (the gear and all of the pivot points). If you spray lubricant into the channels it will probably help initially but then it will attract dirt and could make it worse after a while.

What kind of fumes were you noticing? What additive did you use?

Good speakers make even basic systems sound good. Fabulous systems on mediocre speakers give you mediocre sound. You need to make sure that the speakers are good enough for the system.

I just replaced the factory head unit in my '95 XLE, and with the new head unit the factory speakers sound surprisingly good. They were definitely underpowered with the factory amp. Sounds like you need to replace your factory head unit anyway, and it's an easy swap, so just replace it and see what you think. If you're happy with the factory speakers at that point, great, if not, you can always upgrade later.

When / if you decide to get new speakers, think TOTAL SYSTEM before you choose them. If you get high end speakers, i.e., Infinity, Polk Audio, etc., you'll need an outboard amp to get the most out of them. Most head units don't have adequate power for them, and high end speakers can be VERY disappointing when underpowered. Especially if you just spent BIG $$ on them.

I agree with 95PimpingCamry. I'd stay away from Sony and stay with the likes of Kenwood, Pioneer, Alpine,or JVC. I've known a number of people that had problems with Sony gear.
