timing stuck at 10 degrees?!?!?

98 v6 TRD SC has been at the shop all of last week. I was barely able to drive it there. It was stalling when I gave it throttle. I had to baby it. Recently replaced knock and oxygen sensor. It keeps throwing the code for throttle position sensor, but we replaced that and it did not help. Also tried a new throttle body. Glad they are not charging me for their learning curve. Timing should vary by rpm, but it is stuck at 10 degrees.
Any ideas or suggestions?

For the Gen 4 1MZ-FE, the Diagnostic Module ... see p. 202 of the online repair manual ... states that a P0100 DTC will cause the engine timing to be fixed at 10 deg. BTDC. This is to allow the car to be driven, until repaired.

This DTC would indicate some sort of problem with the Mass Air Flow sensor.

For the Gen 4, there is a platinum hot wire, used to sense air flow, that could be dirty, or possibly broken.

Thanks! That diagnosis does match the problem. We will try a new mass flow sensor today.
