3rd Generation how much to fix????

just recently the regulator on my driver side window broke.........i took apart the side panel and notice that the wires on the wheel on the regulator is broken.....so now my window is messed up ....it can't roll up or down.....and sometimes when i'm driving the window would just fall down on its own....an in order to roll it back up i have to use my hands to pull it back up.....please help....i just want to know the price of fixing it so i dont get ripped off....and if there is any place cheap that will fix it.....and is it possible to fix my self...thnx again TN

Possible to replace yourself ? Sure, but I've heard it's a PITA. I paid about $200 but at least they use a heavier-duty wire which hasn't broke again. You can probably have it done cheaper but mine broke very early on and was done at the dealer. Until you get it fixed you might try folding a bit of cardboard (like cereal box) and wedging it between the glass and the interior door to hold it up. (Leave a bit out so you can remove it.)
