3rd Generation Just bought my 93 Camry LE

I just bought a 93 Camry LE automatic with the 4 cylinders engine. The car is in really great shape and has 250 000 km (155 000 miles). I had it for just a few days, and I'm loving it! It's so much better than my crappy old 91 Honda Civic hatchback. But, there's no perfect used car, mine has 2 minor problems with it.
1) When I lock the doors, the passenger door doesn't lock (but it unlocks without any trouble). Can I change the relay or something (I don't really know how it works) myself?
2) My radio antenna doesn't retract when I shut the radio down. But I can hear the electric engine running, do you know why it doesn't pull the antenna back in? Is there any way to fix this?

i have the same problem (atenenia) on my 96 toyota camry Le 4 cylinder 5sfe engine. when to dealer got antenia for 50 bucks... the problem, the wire inside the motor that suppose pull the antenia down is broken.

step 1.

make sure the radio is on first so the motor turn all the way out before you put in your new attenia.. then all you do, unplug the wire that connect the attenia to follow the steps below.. JUST BE PATIENT WITH THIS>>>CAN TAKE SEVERAL TRIES BEFORE YOU GET THE ATTENIA IN RIGHT.

use a flat screwdriver (put on one side and turn until it loos) to loose the nut off the antenia (outside where the entine when down).
step 2.
you need go inside of your trunk loose 3 bolts off.(to take off the motor)..then try to pull the exist antenia out...

step 3. open the motor (should have 2 screws) and look inside a white rubben that is broken... make sure you look carefully how it put in and how you took off.. then insert your new attenia hardware in the motor.....

step 4. put the screws back and don't put the antenia back into the hold that went down yet..make sure its work before you put into the hold((where the antenia went down)..

step 4. then have someone turn off the radio so the new antenia go down..if it does not go down, take it out and try again...put in the teeth..

use all old hardware except the old attenia and white plastic wire broke...

hope this help...

Several possible causes for this problem ...
You might inspect the wire bundle going through the driver side front door for broken or frayed wires. Probably best bet to check first...
... not sure but you might have to remove door panel to do this.
Good writeup for door panel removal:
DIY: Power Window Master Switch

Could also be connector .... check wires first though.

Are all your power window working?

Oh how that sounds familir, haha. I got sick of replacing them so I did a roof one.

As for the lock, I'd think you have an issue with the entire locking mechanism in the door. Something it in most likely broke. Get a used one from either ebay or a junkyard. It;s a PAIN and takes time to change, but if your a do it yourself type of person, you'll be able to do it and save some $.

UPDATE: Yesterday, I slammed the passenger side door of my Camry (I was pissed, because my ignition coil decided to stop working in the middle of a busy road) and, magically, the door locking mechanism now works perfectly fine! :P
Yay!

The power driver's door lock doesn't work on my '93 LE but the rest do. It's frustrating but I can live with it right now.

For the cost of fixing the factory antenna you could do the S2000 antenna conversion, which looks real good + you don't have to worry about the motor breaking ever again, or worry about the antenna freezing up in the winter, etc.

Check it out in the FAQ.
