3rd Generation The magic alarm?!

Hey,

I was wondering, am I the only camry owner with the magic magnet alarm thing? I have to swipe a magnet beside my hand break and then beside the ignition before I start the car or else it just HONKS at me... I'm sure I can disable this thing but how?!?!

Thanks, sorry if this has been asked before, it probably has.

low jack is like tracking device mounted to the car. and can be tracked to where the location of your car is. but from what i was told, if the car move with out some sort of device being disable, you'll get a phone from the company you went through asking if you gave someone permission/access to your vehicle. (correct me if im wrong about the low jack. was told by a friend that had it on his impreza.)

Sounds like it might be a custom security device of some kind. There ought to be a connection box someplace .... probably several wires going to it. ... maybe under the driver side lower dash panel, or possibly the lower left kick panel. If you find it, post a picture or two.

my dealership installed them on all of their cars because they are also a Chevy dealership and were having a lot of Corvettes stolen without them

I've seen one of these before. Not in a camry, but an audi.

It's got like a little chip and you've gotta pass it in front of a reader to be able to start the car. It's a more advanced kill switch, more or less.

Under the handbrake is kind of weird, but I've seen it under the steering column.

Here you go:

Notice my high tech magnet XD I can't see it being a very effective alarm since any magnet works...

And thats where you swipe it beside the ignition...

It looks stock...Thoughts?

Well, no one knows it's there, so the theft won't know what or where to wave a magnet.

Ive personally never heard of an alarm setup like that...so I have NO clues as to how to 'disable' the alarm. Perhaps you could look under your dash for the 'black box' that all alarms have and see if you can get a model# off of it or something. Something more could really help us help you.

u can unplug the brainbox thats probably attached under your dash (to the lower-left of the steering wheel)

to get to that, there are 4 bolts i believe ... two hidden behind those little squares like you have pictured (those come out easily and reveal two bolts, somethin like 12mm ... Adam will know for sure)

and there are two bolts further down, like closer to the pedals ... they are exposed, and are easy to find

ask ASG14 (Adam) if you need help with how to remove interior panels ... he's a wiz
