i just purchased my second gen 3 camry and i have an oil leak from somewhere on the aft cylinder bank to the exhaust manifold causing smoke. i also may have some fuel in the oil. (possible piston ring failure?) any tips on possible causes of my problem? thanks

well since its causing smoke then id venture a good guess that one place it may be leaking is from the valve cover on the back side. if u got fuel in the oil then u may be lookin at a bad ring.

Our Gen 3 V6 has a very slight leak which I believe to be from the rear valve cover. It's going to have to leak a lot more before I open that can of worms. Some things are easier to live with than to fix.
FWIW
YMMV

they're not as difficult to replace as they are made out to be. you just need patience and a free afternoon.

on a side note, i used aftermarket gaskets and 4 months later they're leaking again. so beware. might want to stick to OEM gaskets.

Our Aussie friend here is wise and correct.

The power steering pressure hose also runs back there over the exhaust.
